My child goes to a well known preschool in TriBeca and it’s not a scene at all. I was fearful it would be but our family’s experience has been wonderful — the teachers truly care about our daughter, I believe in the school’s philosophy, and the majority of the families are quite warm and welcoming. I haven’t made great friends there but I work full time and haven’t made much of an effort. Plus, all the kids scatter in K so many folks don’t put the effort in.

I doubt it. There are kids who attend public pre-K and get into Horace Mann for K.

Some of these private preschools are such a scene (You can tell by the Instagram pages in which they focus more on the parents' events - some schools it's happening weekly).

I actually met a decent amount of very low key HYP parents at lower key preschools and more striver types at the TT preschools.

ETA: this might be more of a comparing “daycares” question, but still.

Curious to know the difference between a kid who attended a TT NYC preschool and one who attended, say, Bright Horizons at Hudson Yards. Assuming parents of children in both situations were high-achieving and attended HYS, for example. Any insight? Is the difference really that stark?

It’s another progressive school downtown but ongoing, I’m sure you can figure it out

UPK and 3K plus Covid created a drop in applications a few years ago. What’s driving the resurgence?

I’m surprised as well having spent the last 4 years between 2 kids in preschool. The schools were struggling to fill their seats 2-3 years ago and even last year things were still soft. This year feels very different and I wonder if the following reasons post-Covid like a ‘21-‘22 baby boom, RTO policies (although why just now, it’s been a while), or disbelief in DOE due to administration, lack of G&T for K and on (that should be called now the lottery schools not G&T). Has any consultant shared any different reasons?

My child is now in HS so info is dated but we liked Montclare (did not send DC there mainly due to geography). There are limited pre-schools on the UWS and it is as good as any, particularly if you want non-religious.

I don't know much about Twin Parks other than some parents who were happy there.
