Even worse, it was an overly intimate birthday card from Amy that clued her in. They were planning to continue carrying on, were not honest with their spouses.

Yeah. I read he told her he was working on reconciliation, but obviously was lying through his teeth because they had already planned to leave their spouses by end of summer. He was still banging Amy.
