god, pages and pages of who's attractive and who's not. They are all attractive, OK?! That's not the issue. The problem is that the Kate Sharma character is so downright annoying because they overplay her self righteousness. I understand the need to create romantic tension between the two main characters to keep the audience engaged, but the plot line is beyond silly and whenever those two spar, it's cringeworthy.

I am only in episode 3 and halfway through had to turn it off. Couldn't enjoy it for what it's meant to be--light-hearted entertainment.

Exactly. And it is his fear of dying young and leaving a grief-stricken, beloved wife behind that makes him want to find a somewhat distant, detached “Ton” wife who he doesn’t love. He fights against his attraction to Kate (which is more cerebral than sexual at least at first in the book) because he thinks he must marry someone who doesn’t love him. Edwina is biddable and seeks a good match, and she’s sweet and pretty and “accomplished” but she doesn’t love him either, which is what he wants.

You know what they totally glossed over in the show? Anthony's real problem: he's so scarred by his father's early demise that he's convinced he will also die very very young (in his 30s, if I remember). That sort of drives all his actions, but it wasn't shown explicitly here. But it's as important to his character as the Duke not wanting to have children.

What's with these random comparisons? Kate Middleton and Kate Sharma are both beautiful in their own ways.

I'm more annoyed at the way they rewrote the story. In the book, Edwina was very much not into Anthony so it didn't feel as wrong when Kate ended up with him. In the show, Edwina very much wants him and will end up getting pretty hurt (I haven't finished but I don't see it going any other way). I don't like this change.

+1. I really think they should have stuck closer to the book. Edwina could have scandalized everyone by running of with her commoner and both she and Kate could find true love.

On the subject of beauty. From a casting perspective, I think the actress who plays Kate is prettier than the actress who played Edwina, but I think they are both beautiful women. I didn't understand why the screenwriter didn't have more characters commenting on Edwina's extraordinary beauty (both men and women). I think it would have made her being "the diamond" make more sense.

My only other beef with this season, was I had trouble staying in the fantasy of it. It made no sense to me that Eloise and Penelope are able to run around all over town unchaperoned. This would never have happened, EVER. I enjoy the narration of lady whistledown, but, they really don't need to go into this kind of detail of how Penelope pulls it off, or have Eloise running around town to "investigate".

Correct about Kate (though I think on screen Kate is STUNNING). Daphne was the "diamond" of the past season so, yes, beautiful. And so is the on screen Daphne, though in a completely different way from Kate.

This is eye candy smut, as are the books. It is escapasim, and good escapism. Just enjoy it and watch. Or don't and turn it off. But, can the petty, name-calling posters just bugger off.

The actress playing Edwina Sharma reminds me so much of Brittany Murphy!

Yes! She’s like an Indian Brittany Murphy.

I have nearly finished and I like it a lot. Yes, it’s not as racy as the first but it’s still entertaining.

I think you nailed everything about her acting and looks screams Brittany Murphy.
