And maybe that’s kind of the point? Maybe those in charge of casting *wanted* actresses who weren’t classically beautiful. That is sort of a theme in many romance novels. Maybe it’s just nice to sometimes see women who are amazing inside but not gifted with the most gorgeous features get the hot guy.
But I still don’t think Daphne and Kate are as unattractive or plain as others think. I think Daphne was pretty in a renaissance painting kind of way.
Define classically beautiful?
white, blonde, and tall- speaking on behalf of the many racists on dcum who are threatened by the foreign, dark skinned woman
Seriously the people on here complaining about Kate’s features act like she looks completely alien and strange, when the only thing that really stands out to them negatively is her skin color.
Especially since this are the same women who drone on and on and on about Kate Middleton being beautiful and wanting to look like her etc.
This woman is leaps and bounds ...

You do know that beauty is subjective, right? And anyone can think someone is more beautiful than another person, and you won't be able to convince them, since you are just stating your opinion? And that this is an anonymous entertainment forum where people go to say the scandalous things that they would never say out loud? Go Kate Middleton!
Anonymous wrote:You know what they totally glossed over in the show? Anthony's real problem: he's so scarred by his father's early demise that he's convinced he will also die very very young (in his 30s, if I remember). That sort of drives all his actions, but it wasn't shown explicitly here. But it's as important to his character as the Duke not wanting to have children.

I'm more annoyed at the way they rewrote the story. In the book, Edwina was very much not into Anthony so it didn't feel as wrong when Kate ended up with him. In the show, Edwina very much wants him and will end up getting pretty hurt (I haven't finished but I don't see it going any other way). I don't like this change.
Anonymous wrote:Eloise definitely stood out as being inconsistent with everyone else. The way they kept her hair down in parts. I don’t believe even the most rebellious young woman would have gone out with her hair down during this time period.

Okay that definitely sounds like a romance novel! I love that trope. What about Daphne?

The main woman is strong, and her younger sister is surprisingly better written than I expected. I did not like the main woman last season.
The female lead is gorgeous, but she’s only playing the character in a very stick up her ass, one dimensional way. There’s zero chemistry because she’s been irate and aggressive since episode 1.
Without sexual tension or romance, this show is boring.
I’m shocked that they didn’t proactively build lust and romance into the show starting with the first episodes. Big mistake.
I disagree…I think there’s more chemistry than last season. Again, I had a hard time last season with the fact that the main actress looked like a child.
The young Sharma looks like a child. And the lead guy looks very old compared to her. He looks much older than Rege Jean.
The actress playing Edwina Sharma reminds me so much of Brittany Murphy!
Yes! She’s like an Indian Brittany Murphy.
I have nearly finished and I like it a lot. Yes, it’s not as racy as the first but it’s still entertaining.

PP here. I hate seeing Penelope so enamored of him and so desperate for his attention. It's one of my least favorite troupes, and possibly the most true to life.
