If Russia uses nuke bombs on DC everyone in DC and most of the fashionable suburbs close to DC like Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Arlington, Alexandria, McLean, Potomac, Great Falls, Silver Spring, and Fairfax are all going to die. You'll either die instantly in the fireball, or your house will be smashed to pieces by the blast and then catch fire with you inside it, or you will die slowly of radiation poisoning amid the rubble of everything. If your kids are in school when it happens, they will die there and you will die alone without ever seeing them again. If it happens in the middle of the night and you live long enough you will watch them die in your arms after days or weeks of suffering before you die yourself. You will die, and your children will die, and they only thing that can possibly prevent that is getting away from DC now before it happens.

I grew up in DC and we did duck and cover drills routinely.


Different schools, I guess. I think the adults at our school realized the futility and skipped the drills in favor of more recess time.

You clearly don’t understand anything about modern nuclear weapons. They are ALL hydrogen bombs (fission-fusion). The yield is highly variable (and adjustable) but they all use a two-stage process now. And DC wouldn’t be hit by one single large warhead, but by a dozen or more smaller or medium sized ones over the course of minutes to hours.
