Teenager, and elementary school students, who also have access to vaccines! If it needs to be tied to vaccination rates, they should allow this to be handled on a school-by-school basis. Some schools are nearly 100% vaccinated, and they shouldn't have to keep masking because others aren't.

If you want anything to change, you HAVE to email the folks in charge. The mayor, deputy mayor for education, Chancellor, your councilperson and Dr. Laquandra Nesbitt. I did and received a response. State explicitly that you cannot vote for any elected official who continues to uphold a mask mandate for vaccinated DCPS students.
The more we flood their inboxes, the more they will realize that parents in the district actually care about this issue. They assume that because we are mostly Democrats, we support this COVID theater. Just send a quick email!

I don't know who the Tweeter is, but her "other views" have no bearing on the reaction of these kids. Unless she made them fake it, which is of course entirely possible, but which does not mean that most kids wouldn't actually be glad to ditch their masks (once they get over the anxiety their parents have instilled in them).

I teach HS and while I don’t really hear kids verbally complain, the second many are out of the classroom they rip the mask off their faces and don’t put it back on until they absolutely must. That doesn’t seem like something people don’t mind wearing.

Yes. And that's not to mention community spread. Does anyone actually think masking a 3 year old has any effect whatsoever on transmission? Unvaxxed adults visiting crowded indoor spaces, on the other hand....
