Is he also free to ignore no shirt/no shoes/no service signs?

No, he should abide by the property owners rules.

Was there a rule in this store requiring a mask?

NO! I shop there.

What store was it?

People need to stop claiming, into their own echo chamber, that Youngkin was deliberately not wearing a mask in defiance of a mask requirement at Safeway. This is the Safeway at the Bermuda Triangle of Quaker/King/Braddock next to Bradlee Shopping Center. It looks like a space ship or something out of Star Wars. If you are familiar with Alexandria you know exactly where tis is.

There is NO mask requirement for this grocery store. None. There used to be a sign that asked you to wear a mask if you hadn't been vaccinated, but I don't know if that has been taken down. Regardless, Youngkin has already publicly stated he is vaccinated. He didn't have to wear a mask there. People need to unclench and let go.

I was at two Aldis today, the one on Monroe in Del Ray and the one on Duke near Foxchase. Both had small signs you could barely see inside that said masks were encouraged if you weren't vaccinated. There is no mask mandate in Alexandria. Businesses I believe can require masks, but most are NOT doing it. Please stop the insanity with just assuming there are mask requirements or that all Alexandrians wear masks. Screaming at each other, shaming people, it's pitiful.

Well, I mean if there is no mask required in the store I'm certain that Covid will abide by that and politely stay outside so that the good shoppers of Alexandria are safe.

that wasn't the issue and it isn't the issue. People claiming that the Bradless Center Safeway has a mask requirement and that the Governor wasn't abiding by it. Not whether there was covid in Safeway (FYI in 2022 you should just assume there will be covid anywhere and everywhere). You twist yourself in knots to find something wrong. I'm sorry you want everyone to be wearing masks in Safeway. Safeway doesn't require it. So you are free to not shop there and go somewhere else that does require shoppers to mask up. You will be hard pressed to find a grocery store in Alexandria that actually does require masks. I know of none.

A little bit of trivia: Albertsons owns Safeway, and it also owns Balduccis. I was at the OT Balduccis a week ago (against my better judgment, their prices are insane), and several of their employees weren't wearing masks, in addition to all the elderly people who shop there.

And as for the 2 Aldis I went to today, I saw several instacart shoppers shopping at both locations, none were wearing masks. Breathing all over your groceries I guess.

Again, masks are about simple curtesy and concern for others during a pandemic, store requirement or not. I don't think people who are pointing out his not wearing a mask are really splitting hairs over the store requirement, they are calling him out for not giving a crap about his constituents.

That’s how you CHOOSE to interpret his not wearing a mask. That is not how everyone views it. I for one would appreciate the “courtesy and concern” from your side of being left alone to make the choices I want to make.

I don't approach people in a store about not wearing a mask I'm just letting you know what people generally think of you. If you are ok with folks believing that you are a selfish tool that is fine by me but nothing you have said in defense of it has made change my mind about the type of person you likely are. It is actually kinda nice seeing a person in public and knowing right away that I have absolutely nothing in common with them at all. I don't need to pretend and be polite to you, I won't let you go first, I don't feel compelled to show you the slightest bit of respect or courtesy at all because you feel that you are entitled to it.

This is such a stupid thread.

1. This happened locally and shouldn’t be on this forum.
2. So much is being made out of absolutely nothing. There was no mask mandate and Youngkin chose not to wear a mask. So what?
3. The threads about Stacey Abrams not wearing a mask were all deleted, yet she WAS in an area that has a mask mandate. Double standards, hypocrisy, and faux outrage rule the day here on DCUM - as always.

It's amazing that some people seem to think that if they protest and tantrum enough the virus will listen and stop infecting people.

No, those who will not wear a mask for the 30 minutes or so that they are in a store are selfish people. Do you honestly believe Youngkin became a rich man because he cares about anyone but himself? He is just as self centered as the rest of MAGA folks the only difference being he has accomplished something with his life but that didn't make a better person.

But it was all good theater for his supporters.

No one is stopping the good shoppers of Aldi or Whole Foods from wearing whatever mask they choose. There are plenty of highly-effective masks available.

Of course, I'm just saying that if a mandate has been lifted that must mean that Covid is no longer a problem.

Covid will continue to sicken and kill people for the foreseeable future. Whether or not people wear masks in Safeway won't make any difference.

We just need to accept this and go back to normal.

Because the mask mandate was dropped by Northam in May. He left it up to individiual businesses to decided. I wear a mask and shop at that store and I just cringe at this woman. And to make matters worse the mayor of Alexandria was promoting some weird tshirt with a pineapple with a mask with this ladies rant as the tag line on FB - and yes I know the pineapple is a sign of welcome/hospitality. But just no. Makes us look really dumb.

And just like that we never from Covid again.

Is he also free to ignore no shirt/no shoes/no service signs?

No, he should abide by the property owners rules.

Was there a rule in this store requiring a mask?

Because the mask mandate was dropped by Northam in May. He left it up to individiual businesses to decided. I wear a mask and shop at that store and I just cringe at this woman. And to make matters worse the mayor of Alexandria was promoting some weird tshirt with a pineapple with a mask with this ladies rant as the tag line on FB - and yes I know the pineapple is a sign of welcome/hospitality. But just no. Makes us look really dumb.
