I hadn't heard of any reviews (yes, I've been in a bubble for six weeks). I loved this movie, especially the ending.

Did Cate Blanchett have a face lift?

I expected more of it because of all the reviews.. Loved Meryl Strip but otherwise it is just OK. I feel like I've been living in that movie already, for the past few years. All I have to do is look around or turn on the news. And it stopped being funny a while ago, at least for me..

His word? He wouldn’t reveal.

On the Oval Office: "It's a good stage for the insane carnival ride that has been modern political life”

And Trump is the ultimate clown.

Your insistence on being “right” is cute.

Almost as cute as you ignoring facts.

The funniest part was Ariana Grande’s hilariously way over the top torch song to “Please Look Up”…. All the while wearing some sort of cartoonish bird costume.

Wasn’t she supposed to be dressed as a comet? She is a horrible actress.

+1 I absolutely loved the movie and laughed all the way through. The rest of the family, on the other hand, did share my enthusiasm. It's amazing how polarizing the film is.

It seems worth a watch just for the line in the song:

Look up, what he's really trying to say
Is get your head out of your ass
Listen to the goddamn qualified scientists

So damn funny.

Exactly, the science is saying vaccines still spread Covid.

“While Donald Trump is never mentioned in the movie or by the actors or creators, his presence is felt and it's bluntly clear where they got their inspiration.

President Orlean is far more concerned with primary elections than an extinction-level comet hurtling towards Earth in a metaphor for climate change that slaps viewers straight in the face.

Streep said she found inspiration from the role from various different places and cited "preposterous people."

Meryl Street as fictional president Orlean in "Don't Look Up" and Donald Trump.

"There was so many places to take things from, because there's so many preposterous people who've put themselves in public places recently, and shamelessly so," Streep told reporters at a press conference on Monday night.

It was kind of fun to put together this character that was in just pure id, just what her appetite wanted," Streep said of president Orlean. "And about amassing power, money, more power, and more money, and nice hair and nails, you know?"

“Her political party isn’t specified (nobody’s is—there’s no reference to real-world politics in the film) but her actions resemble those of Donald Trump: she nominates a Supreme Court Justice of dubious qualification and sexual scandal, falsifies scientific data to seek advantage in the midterm elections, and leaves an underling’s public racist remarks unchallenged.”
