God bless and good luck to the new owners. At least it’s a lovely neighborhood and street.
And a beautiful home. Good luck new owners on your beautiful new home! I'm sorry your new neighbors are so judgmental.
Neighbors are welcoming and wonderful. Once they get past the developer and realtor they will a great addition to the neighborhood. Welcome!
+1.

1) the main staircase by the entry has an awkward column. I’m not sure what the right way to deal with it would be. Probably to just suck it up and enclose the staircase. Having the column jammed behind the metal bannister isn’t working for me.
2) there is a hall/pantry thing between the front parlor and the kitchen area. It should have pocket doors. Those doors are going to be such a PITA. A big mistake that will be difficult if not impossible to remedy. $50 says the new owners just take the doors off.
3) I don’t know the answer to this but while I don’t necessarily dislike the overlooking basement family room thing, it does look like a noise problem. People touring the house should stand in both spaces and talk loudly and see how it feels.
4) It is SO close to the houses next to it. With absolutely no architectural consideration taken. The windows in several bedrooms look like mistakes. The poor people in the neighboring houses. Just awful. It’s just clear that a person who doesn’t care about anything or anyone built this house.
Absolutely, 100%. So sad! What a waste of a fabulous neighborhood and property.
All four issues are legitimate and number 4 is definitely the most compelling. The windows in the house don’t even match - even in the same room. It’s non-sensicle, like an after thought. The sides and back of the house have the same issue. No design, no interest, no character, just a big box. A kindergartner could have designed it better. A complete fail.
I'm sorry, but have you all seen the new builds in DC? They're terrible "craftsman" style mcmansions . This at least is trying to modernize a beautiful old house. The exterior is beautiful, the kitchen is higher end and more interesting than a normal kitchen, and I really like the open basement (although I have no idea how it will work acoustically).
