That’s not to say that there is not a place for VLC. If you look a the thread on the 28 class it filled with unhappy parents. Without VLC there’s not enough spots for all of the DMV lax players. Either VLC steps up or Black wolf needs to come back
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Why is the 29 VLC team in the B bracket at the Chrome Classic?
29 AA VLC team (old B team) just beat True Baltimore Green, a good AA team. The 30 team is at least a solid AA team, way better than the True Black team.
What’s the problem?
No it isn’t. Last years true Baltimore black moved over to Preds. The true green team moved up to black but lost their best players to teams like 91.
So the big win your are talking about is over kids that were at best practice players on Baltimore Green team last year. Try again.
Everything you said - whatever practice squad sounds like your story. Until they meet in hoco, I am not sold that True Nova is the better team.
Also what about 2030-2032? What about your entire up and coming youth program? Those 3 VLC teams can whoop all 3 True nova teams.
Quit trying to argue an entire program of ~10 years over 1 inconclusive year of 2029.
Nice try, try again.

It is literally 10 days away from summer tournaments start to kick off. If VLC doesn't have a 2028 team at this point (and I've seen no mention of tryouts) they aren't going to have one for this summer. My guess is that they try to form one in the late summer for kids heading into HS. But, the fact that VLC has been unable to field 8th grade teams 2 years in a row, raises 2 issues: 1) I'm guessing a team will form for HS but will be basically spare parts from other teams; 2) I'd be very concerned if I was a parent of kid on VLC's 2029 team
The plan was never to have a team for summer tournaments. Their plan is to hold summer tryouts in July and form a 2028 team for fall and continue through HS, at the same level as the 2026 and 2027 teams, which are very respectable in those classes. Best case is that they assign a good 2028 coach, and pick up most of the PVI freshman class, plus the Virginia based players on ML, NL, and DCE (some of whom are in the PVI class) and add in athletic kids from Loudon county who are not on one of the big three, and have a killer team. My son is a starter on one of the big three and we are sufficiently dissatisfied with all three of those programs that we would take a close look at VLC 2028 if they can pull that off. The worst case is that they never get organized, or they hold tryouts and only 10 or so kids show up, and they scrap the team. Either scenario is possible.
I don't know. Sounds a lot like hoping and praying that kids and parents make the same decision you want to make. And I have no problems with what you are doing. We are all trying to make the best decisions for our kids, family and life. But, in general hoping and praying isn't a plan.
PP - I didn't say my son's plan is to quit his team and hope/pray that VLC materializes. I said that if they pull it off, then we would take a close look.
We'll never ever go back. I don't care who they bring in to coach. They're not going to magically come up with adequate field space and rudimentary administrative capabilities in the next 4 months.
Agreed. Miserable experience
VLC has had a few bad teams and yes the merger was not what it could have been. For those younger parents: Look at the success of VLC players in college it is very impressive. Several in the NCAA tournament and some of the freshman did very well like the Georgetown A player from Lake Braddock. Some were invited to the PLL. As they say, "trust the process"
Ok, be honest. The VLC that exists today is NOT the same VLC that existed when VLC was successful in getting players to college. VLC today is cavaliers lacrosse that got a new name. Proof is in the pudding when you see almost all the old VLC leaders and coaches are gone and now it’s all the Cavs people and dads running the show. Why do we even bother calling it VLC? Yeah, go Cavs…it’s a great daddy ball organization…insert sarcasm.

Ask and you shall receive! VLC is having tryouts at GMU and Independence HS for another shot at a 2028 team.
