It seems so dumb to me to get married to live apart. Why go on the show then when you know most people won't come from anywhere near, and then pick someone who is unwilling to relocate? It doesn't even seem like they are committed to see each other much, even as seniors. Do they need to work for money that bad in old age?

LOL. If they're in that new, madly-in-love phase, wouldn't they do everything they could to spend more time together? Especially him, since she's the one who's working full-time? Maybe they've found it difficult to mesh with the day-to-day, and are taking it slowly. That part's understandable, but why the freak did they get married as opposed to enjoying a long engagement to allow for that adjustment period?

Someone upthread did research on her address history. She lives in a tiny $500K house and her previous addresses were equally modest. She and her daughter dress and groom nicely, but their houses and cars do not suggest affluence. Building wealth modestly, over time, is consistent with her lifestyle. Never said she's of no means now.


+1. We don't know if she has a great stock portfolio (or not). She used to work at a brokerage.

Also, as a single woman whose kids have fledged, I'm now considering downsizing because who wants to take care of a big house when you're in your 70s. And not all of us buy new cars every few years, which is a bad financial decision all by itself. I totally get Theresa's decisions.

Anyway, he cried when Faith said no. I know he cried a lot, but usually it was because he didn’t want to hurt anybody, and this is the only relationship I can think of where he cried because it was over by someone else’s choice.

Then he has to choose between Theresa and Leslie. I agree he didn’t seem like a Leslie kind of guy, apart from some fun in the sack.


I think he was over Faith the minute he saw where she lived. He had zero interest in a mini-ranch, rural, heavy camping lifestyle that required many hours of travel to even get there. Zero compatibility in their interests. He was into her when he thought she was a sexy singer who liked riding motorcycles. As soon as it became clear the real focus was rural farm life and horses, it was a big nope.


Sort of. He was over her when she said she wouldn't move (for him--after the show was over she said she was willing to move). We don't know what conversation they really had, and if this was one of those "it's not you it's me" things to face save for national tv.

He did seem genuinely sad Faith wasn't going to work out, whatever the reason. Whereas his tears over Leslie seemed sort of self-serving, like yeah, I screwed up saying those things to her and now I want to back out.

Since they never showed us any of those conversations, I'm dying to know how Theresa reacted when she learned how much of it was artificial glow-up. By that point, she had decided she was in love with him, I think, so must have figured out a way to rationalize all of it. That said, she and her husband seem to have been of fairly modest means and accumulated their wealth slowly, like many middle-class Americans. Her ability to get a good job after their kids were raised was huge for them. Gerry's family was more blue collar and most of his eventual wealth (such as it was) seems to have been earned by his hard-working wife. Her social security must have been a lot more than his, and he gets both checks now.



I guess it doesn't matter so much now, since financially he must be far better off after having done GB. And they're getting lots of perks, such as the free honeymoon in Italy. I'll be curious to see when they work out where to live though.
