She wasn't even a serious competitor in the democratic primary. Honestly her credentials are pretty light and the ones she has are problematic IMO but she was selected because of her demographics and the fact that she is pretty/photogenic. Americans are pretty shallow when it comes to voting for politicians.

She’s photogenic but not pretty irl.

It’s shocking how short and stumpy she and klobuchar are.

If she was as dark as Stacey Abrams, she’d never be where she is.

Weird post.

I've never seen her in real life but the bolded is 100% true unfortunately. I hope as a country we can get past the racism and colorism that plagues us. I would have liked to see more from Val Demings as a VP candidate but I figured it wouldn't happen this time around for just that reason.

Val demmings would’ve been an amazing vp choice.

She’s a lot more relatable to purple states…..I would have no issues scheduling her to come to PA IMO if I was running a campaign for a pa statewide candidate as it is.

If she was latte toned like Susan rice, she’d rocket straight to the top even faster.

Val demings is “normal” in a way kH isn’t.

I agree with much of this: VP Harris does not seem to like people or the “connecting” part of politics. President Obama could be like this but he was smarter and funnier than she is and found ways to macro connect when he didn’t do it personally. Val Demings is a good retail politician. She engages well and connects well.

She really did run a top notch primary campaign, contrary to widespread opinion. And, she’s been superb in her role as vp, rising to the occasion and tackling some of the most pressing problems with aplomb. I have the utmost faith in Biden—he chose her for a reason. Zero need to panic.

Gerald Ford is a strange comparison. He was a longtime Republican Congressman who became leader of the house because he was well liked and respected. He carried a little of the Nixon stink which may have made him less popular but he was far more competent than Harris. She got the VP job because of Biden’s post George Floyd promise. Otherwise, someone good — likeGretchen Whitmer—would be VP.

I think Biden’s people are managing Harris well and using her where needed. She adds nothing.

"Socialism" like medicare and interstate highways?

Ah yes. Everyone knows that pointing out the difference between equity and equality is the first step toward nationalizing Amazon.

This is what her boosters often miss: that she’s pretty obviously the cynically expedient take on what are claimed to be her strengths. She’s kind of an obvious placeholder, not someone with rare abilities.

^ here's one reason she's at the bottom

There's nothing specific in there about why she's supposedly so unpopular. The only plausible explanation is deep rooted misogyny.

Why would anyone compare Gerald Ford’s rating in June 1976 to Kamala Harris’s rating now? Ford was never elected VP or President but he got points for not being Nixon. He was neither loved nor hated. It was very shallow approval & disapproval. Five months after this poll he lost to Carter.

Harris is a recently elected VP. Fifty percent of the public have no reason to have an opinion about her. Compare her to other VPs in their first year, not Gerald Ford.

You could Trump to Gerald Ford. They both lost.

She’s not very bright especially considering her parental background…her Indian side is Tamil Brahmin intellectuals and her father’s side are highly intelligent Windies.

Average iq, very low eq…

…desantis Will crush her.

Biden either will run in 24 or there will be a drawn out open primary — ambitious Dems are not scared of her.
