Where do people making 14 million a year get thr time to post on internet message boards?

We are paying people to do most of the work. Millionaires aren’t paper pushers. Most of my money is passive at this point. Trust me. We have the time.

We’re spending a lot more these days - maybe like 25-30k on 400k? I feel like we can’t take it with us and we don’t have a huge house or want one. We’re not flying business class or anything (though I am considering it for the first time for one specific trip that I think being rested would help). Unfortunately with more than 2 travelers can’t use points - have to use cash.

I think it's more about leftover money. 15k of a 300k income is probably a lot easier to manage than 5k of a100k income

We make 1.6M and spend approx 80k/yr on travel, so 5%

4% gross/7% net is my back of the envelope guess, but it fluctuates.

3-5% on $3m

We spend around 100k per year not including our beach house.

3%. HHI 400K

This year more like 5%-6%, going to Europe for two weeks with the kids.

Reviving this thread. HHI is $1M and we spend about $40k/year on travel, or 4% of gross income, for a family of five. There’s a topic on the money board now where I commented and someone said something like “live a little” and I’d love to do more but also want to save sufficiently and live well day to day.

Curious about your travel budget relative to HHI.

Are you retired? How do you spend $125-150k on travel and also spend time at your beach house?

No, early 40s. We spend summer at beach house. We typically fly first class, stay in higher end hotels/resorts (two rooms, one for us one for kid). Do a lot of experiences/private tours/private dinners.

3.5%

All figures based on gross HHI and 2020 to keep the math easy. We traveled before and during the pandemic so spending wasn’t that off. Net figures would certainly be different because we live in NYC and are taxed out the wazoo (and rent is 17% of gross HHI, ugh).
