These are decent recs but very very very different. The smith is upscale gastro-grill.
Don’t do Old Ebbitt Grill right now. Too many Republicans; it’s a trumper hangout.
Try Rose’s Luxury or minibar.
District Taco is about the best fast food there is. So good.


Roses and minibar don't do lunch. Rose's is on Capitol Hill, and minibar is VERY expensive - if the OP is looking for a gift certificate for lunch she may not want to spend $1500 for dinner for 2.

I'd go with Joe's or Old Ebbitt. Make sure it doesn't expire.

This is the right answer. It's close to the White House and is a real power lunch spot. Also has a great bar.

(BTW, Woodward Table closed last year.)
