Side effects were tough and some weightloss initially, but once that was over it was great for depression and obsessive thoughts.

My DD is on Adderall XL and Clonidine and they were working really well. Looking to start low dose Prozac to decrease anxiety and mild depression, so I appreciate this thread. She currently takes Buspar but it's so short acting and taking 2-3x a day isn't something that works for her as a teen playing sports, etc... So hoping the Prozac can take it's place

My kid takes Prozac and Methylphenidate CD for anxiety, depression, OCD, and ADHD. No problem with the combination.

My son takes Prozac and a low dose of a stimulant. The combination has been really helpful for him.

Everyone’s experience is going to be different but Prozac made a big difference for my son who has adhd and level 1 ASD. He is happier and more flexible. We noticed improvements within three days of starting it.

He is younger than yours - he started Prozac at at about six years old.

So can anyone answer whether Prozac works with stimulants?

Prozac was life changing when my then 13 yr old HFA son expressed thoughts of depression, existential crisis, anxious stomachaches. In 2 weeks of 10mg it practically all disappeared. We were doing therapy at the time but it almost became pointless doc said bc his crazy worries were gone. He stayed on 10 mg for 2 yrs. No side effects, nothing but positives. We weaned him off this past summer to get a baseline and to see if he still needs it. Jury is still out, he started having some existential dread creep back, trying to talk thru it.

There seems to be some good experience with Prozac for OCD, but for DC it was activating and it was quickly discontinued. What dose is your child on?

DP, my cousin takes zoloft for OCD and does well on it.

Are there actually tests that says "doesn't work" or just how fast or slow someone metabolizes the meds?
