We did this trip pre-Covid and loved it. Broke up the drive by spending time in the Finger Lakes which was fantastic (hikes, waterfalls, restaurants, wineries, museums!)

Niagra Falls was great but very long lines and a ton of traffic, we even got in a fender bender. it was a long weekend though.

Toronto was wonderful, great restaurants and vibe. DD was 1.5 and all theae places were great for that age.

Stopped in PA for a night on the way back to break up the drive, but not a particular destination.

It opens next week. I know the OP was a couple of years ago but for others reading we just did a Pittsburgh-Niagara Falls trip and had a great time. We just did one day at the falls and had a blast. It wasn't terribly crowded and we were able to do maid of the mist, ride the trolley and walk around for a few hours. We will definitely go back when we can enter Canada.

definitely more time in toronto. we loved it there, lots to do. A full day + evening in Niagara was plenty

We are hoping that Canada opens soon. Our fall trip is going to Corning, Watkins Glen, Buffalo, maybe the falls and back again. I'm hoping Covid wanes soon!

I’ve got my eye on this trip next summer. What else do folks like to do in Toronto with kids (dd will be 7)? Falls, Zoo and hockey museum are def on our list.

Taking your children with you is a great idea! I am sure that they are going to remember a Niagara Falls Tour since is something huge for them. I have 2 kids and I'm trying to take them anywhere with me. It's a huge sacrifice, but it's totally worth it in my opinion. I know that it's more convenient to travel alone, but you will see in the future that this was a good idea. They will be influenced by many cultures and they're going to see how other people are living. Make sure that you're going to take pictures of them so you can show them after they'll be older

That sounds fine but we did the first stop at Falling Water with a tour and stayed overnight.
