If they want to pay for their own college, or forgo college and move out and get a job, I’m sure they’d have a great time at beach week.

Just like your parents did for you. lol

At first, I thought it was a cute/great idea but now the anxiety is crippling up for me. They are all 18 and good kids... all heading to College.

And yes, I want them to have fun before they all split in different directions and no I don't want them to make mistakes that can affect their future... and no I don't want to be that blind parent that their kids are little angels and yes, I want them to know I trust they'll make good choices

and yes.... here I am worrying.

My friend Matt died on a trip like this during his senior year. He got drunk and dove from a hotel balcony into the pool below. He was a good kid. He was headed to college on an athletic scholarship. All the friends he was with were good kids headed to college, too.

Let them get it out of their system before they go to college

Getting arrested for alcohol or fighting while drunk is probably just a misdemeanor or can get expunged

Everyone need to let off a little steam…

I believe it depends on your kids and who they hang out with. My dd went in 2023 and nothing happened with any of her friends that was terrible. They went to the beach, ate, shopped and tried to find a party or 2 but each time the police came and broke it up so they ended up just walking the strip and going back to the condo to bed. None of the parents of any of the kids I'm friendly with had issues either. I will say a few had jobs/internships lined up with CIA, NSA and FBI so they weren't going to get in any trouble because they already knew they would be drug tested and instagram pages looked at.

Which is at what age exactly? An 85 year old mom still thinks of her 50 year old as a kid.

No you failed as a parent came on social media to announce that you suck at parenting. Genius.

Congratulations, grandma!

This doesn't belong in Adult Children. It should be moved to the Teens board. Come on, people. Yes, 18-year-olds are legally adults. They are also teens, and we have a board for that, where people with teenagers can talk. On this board, we talk about actual adults.

These are teens who are by law an adult, so your adult children. If you don't like it, try changing the law.
