In addition to what others have recommended, you could also check out one of those appliance stores that sells dented/scratched appliances for cheaper than new.

Another option is using a pay over time option on your credit card. I realize this isn’t ideal, but often the monthly fee is cheaper than the credit card APR.

Seconding Community Forklift. It can be tricky to find exact sizes or certain colors. However, if you just need a fridge to keep food safely cool for a while, it's an option.

Definitely look at Buy Nothing and Take My Shit groups on Facebook. If you post an ISO, you might be surprised that someone else has a delivery of a new appliance set up in the coming days or weeks. They might also be about to begin a renovation and planning to replace appliances. The only challenge there is that you'll have to figure out a way to pick up and transport the fridge yourself.

Costco has some great deals. While you will pay a membership fee, often the discount makes it worth it. I'm seeing some simple fridge/freezer combos for $350 to $700. If you are able to open a new credit card, often there is an interest-free period.
