Nothing to do with small worlds. The OP asked how we would assume one says Hanna. And most Americans (including those who are aware of the alternate pronunciation) would rhyme it with banana.

People will correct it when you tell them but you have to be okay with many getting it wrong initially.

Everyone in the US will pronounce it like banana. And if you spell it any way other than Hannah everyone will spell it wrong and she'll never be able to find her name in any store selling things with girls' names on them.

I have a similar name (German). I use it as a middle name as an adult. I still like it a lot but it got really old having it constantly mispronounced.

Hana Hannah Hanna and Anna all sounds the same to me. If you want to pronounce Hawna just write it Hawna
