34B is a strange size? What an odd comment.

Not if you read the rest of the comment!

A vast majority of women are wearing the band size too large and the cups too small.

Because the average US woman is a size 16-18. She isn’t wearing a B cup

There was that book selling sexy (or something like that) that came out recently. It said decades ago the average bra size in US was 34B but now due to weight gain and breast augmentation, it’s much bigger now.

I too used the A Bra That Fits calculator and then ordered from Bare Necessities. My favorite brands are Freya and Marie Jo.

The most comfortable bra I own is a sports bra from Aerie. I highly, highly recommend it for anyone who is bra-averse. Support and lift without constriction https://www.ae.com/us/en/p/aerie/bras/sports-bras/offline-by-aerie-real-me-hold-up-racerback-sports-bra/3692_1354_101

my nipples reacted to a synthetic bra and developed a non-cancerous skin condition that I am treating--not exczema, more like a hyperplasia. Anyway, I only buy natural now and would encourage everyone to do the same- silk, cotton etc. More pricey and they don't always have size range but protect your breasts ladies. MATE, Fleur du Mal, Araks, the exczema store all have options. I use reprise and mate for sports bras as well. Wish alo did fewer synthetics. I'm trying to move away entirely.

If I leave the house (which is not that often) I'll wear a bra. Otherwise I don't. I hate the pinching, the riding, and all the discomfort. I'm around a 34B myself.

Somebody tell me a good comfortable bra that doesn't cost $100. It's almost summer which means I need to start wearing bras outside of the house. Ugh.

+1 same. They're all just so uncomfortable and binding even the sports bras.

+2 I can barely tolerate bras. I wear a lot of camisoles and tank tops that are double-lined, stretchy and snug enough to give some support. Some have a shelf bra. If I wear something that requires a bra, I usually just wear a stretchy bralette. Not that this helps OP in any way. I just wanted to commiserate with PPs.

"Yup, this is exactly what happened to me the one and only time I went to a bra fitting place. I had to argue with the lady. I’m an A/b and she wanted me to buy a DD and not only was it big, it added about 10 lbs to the way I look."

Sounds to me like this PP is one of those women who refuses to acknowledge that she's been wearing the wrong size. I'm guessing she's used to wearing a band that is much too loose with cups that are the right size. The thing is that as the band size goes down, the cup size goes up. So, someone wearing a 38B that is too loose might really be a 34D. The cup volume of a 34 D is on par with the cup volume of a 38B. You want the band to be what gives the support and holds things in place, not the straps. Yes, this is going to feel like it's too tight the first time you're wearing the right band size. But it is going to be the right fit.

Anecdotally I had a terrible experience here. I had an appointment and they were so rude.

Also not a fan. I like Le Bustierre much better. Less pretentious.

+1 can't recommend Bell Mode enough. Absolutely the best fittings my mom and I have ever had! Expensive, but I don't buy 'real' bras often (am more often wearing sports bras).

Great to know. I’m hard to fit, and didn’t have a good experience at Trousseau.
