How did Cat/lexy kill her sister? Did she tamper with the inhaler or something?

The blackmail was not very clear here. Why the friends would wait 10 years to blackmail her over this? Why were Anna/Richard together in the first place? I want to know more about Lexy - did she stalk anna and get a job at the same place? Doubt it's coincidence.

Anna's mom tampered with the inhaler, a change from the book I think. But Cat was gleeful about the death as she ate her donuts.

Huh??? You're saying this happened in the show? It did not.

Yeah, they flashed back to show the three murders the mom was responsible for. Catherine/Lexy was a sociopath, shown early in Ep 6 emptying her Andrea's inhaler before the sailing outing.

I'm really sick of Jon Bernthal's twitchy good ol' boy schtick. Tessa Thompson is the only thing that made this series watchable.

No, that was just one of the many red herrings. Jack assumes there is blackmailing going on when he sees the text messages and video, but there wasn't.

Another loose end - we see Jack let himself into the school by way of the chapel on the very night Helen is murdered. But of course, they never circle back and explain what he was doing there. We're supposed to wonder if he killed Helen. It's just all so stupid.

I disliked all the people in this show but the female detective. Everyone was just so unlikable. I had so many issues with this show. Anna is so argumentative and arrogant but demands people’s attention and time- there’s no universe that exists the people would give her the time of day. And during the ridiculous press conference where Anna takes over the microphone. The whole story and the way the people behave is just so unrealistic.

Is the blackmail in the books? Why would the friends blackmail cat when it was alice? So confused lol

All of this, yes. Very odd omissions.

I loved the ending though. I paused the show after lexy got shot and was like "wow, there's still 25m left, wonder what's gonna happen". I loved the twist, even though I had sort of guessed it earlier. I assumed she did have dementia and did it and just didnt remember, not that she was faking it entirely though. I also guessed lexy/cat, but I actually thought it was Anna + Cat doing the killings together.

Wow, I really hated this series. Was always intrigued by the Harlan Coben-type shows because I love a true crime mystery and Netflix recommends them to me- but this was truly terrible.

I hated how every character was awful and you didn't want to root for anyone. I hated how the investigation seemed almost cartoonishly babyish-- the fact that the sherrif/officers were even considering Jack's POV when he was saying "just because the two women who died were friends since high school and had their friendship bracelets in their mouths does not mean the other two good friends in the group have ANYTHING to do with this!!!" And it's like they almost believed him and they had to be won over by his partner Priya. I know small town police mindset is a thing but that was unbelievable.

I saw that Lexy was Catherine from a mile away. Halfway through the series I thought Alice was faking and she's the killer.

Maybe Anna blocked out what happened to her as a teen, I guess.... but was it ever explained why Richard the cameraman had those weird supplies? Why did he freak out when Anna was on the phone at the lake house?

I hated the pacing. I hate when there's a dark subject matter (because it can be depressing!) and it's not even worth it because the story is not smart and intriguing.

Thanks- I was 1-2 episodes in avoiding the spoilers but I'm glad I checked becauase it's so bad. I can't stand any of the characters. You're so right about it being dark but not even clever.

You're welcome! I'm glad to save someone from spending more time on this show.

It was almost worth it for Tessa Thompson but the story was just dark and preposterous. The Lexy piece was both inexplicable and dumb beyond belief.

I would have appreciated understanding how two sisters became sociopaths.

What two sisters?

IDK- I abandoned it. Sounds like Anna has a sister name Lexy and they're both POS. What a surprise? So they are the killers. Whew saved me time. I actually don't even know who was killed.

No, Anna doesn't have a sister. She's the main character. Lexie is the blonde anchor who replaced her.

Did they ever indicate why the cameraman was cheating on his wife?

The teens were all sociopaths but Anna. Andrea may have been, but not enough info to know. She may have just been a run-of-the-mill bully. I think they changed Andrea's death from the book. I *hated* the representation of the female characters in this series. They had no dimension, just crude caricatures other than Anna.
