Zero.

My high school had tracks that were extremely strict and determined by a single meeting with the guidance counselor the summer before 9th grade.

She was a racist who told me I wasn’t college material. I had As in everything except math in my middle school. She didn’t know my dad was an engineer or that my mom had a master’s degree. My parents had a very uncomfortable (for her) meeting, but she refused to put me higher than the second highest track. Every year, teachers would ask why I wasn’t in AP courses. Eight years later, I sent her my undergrad awards and my grad school offers of full rides. She responded that she wanted to motivate me.

Be aware that you don’t need to take an AP course to take the associated AP exam. This comes in handy if kid grew up in household where a foreign language was spoken, or if kid took a lot of private music lessons.

None. This was not a thing when I was in high school.

I had 0 in the 1970s. Kid in 2015 had 52. Enabled kid to take 4 classes per semester instead of 5, & graduate in 3 yrs. It pays to do a lot of research on what credits individual colleges give for certain scores on AP exams. Some colleges give 15+ credits for a 5 on the AP exam in a foreign language.

Lol, none. I had to take a placement test and then take three remedial courses over the summer before starting my fall freshman semester.

2 kids, both about 12 APs each. One took fewer classes every year of college (good, because, ADHD), one graduated college in 3 years.

12 AP classes or 12 AP credits?

IIRC I had 20: 6 for English and 14 for French language. My first French class was a junior level literature class.

I don’t remember exactly how many credits I had but I had to take a test to place into a higher level foreign language. I tested into the 300 level in Spanish and 200 in French.

I graduated in 4 years with a B.S. in Marketing and a B.A. in Spanish.
