I've always remembered an "America's Funniest Home Video" where a toddler opens a package to find a fancy dress on a plastic hanger and shrieks "I got a hanger!!" with glee as she holds it up and the dress falls to the floor.

We had a toy cement mixer truck that you could load with beans and have the beans extruded from the trough. Some pre-schools have sensory play stations that have dry rice or beans.

Why get a toy from goodwill or something? If I were your friend, I would be a little weirded out that you gave my kids random junk from your house.
I guess if you’re really anti-toy, I’d suggest post-it notes. Or a giant box the kid can sit in and color on.
