Ok your kid made the cut off by one year. They’re a cusper and like any other generational cusp will identify with aspects of both generations. They surely have more in common with their 11 year old gen alpha peers than the 28 year old oldest gen Z’s. I teach 10th graders and they are not like Gen Z who I taught for the last 12 years, they are a clearly distinct group of kids.

As a fashion stylist, I love when more classic styles that we might have in our wardrobes anyway become a “trend” for a while. It’s a great time to stock up on them if it’s your thing. For example, chocolate brown is the “new black”. It happens to look fabulous on me so I am buying everything I can in the color. I will be thankful I made the investment in a few years ( or months since the trend cycle seems to be getting shorter and shorter) when the color isn’t as popular but it’s still a good option for me.

I love this trend for Gen Alpha. I agree it makes the kids look sharp and worth getting to know, instead of like they just rolled out of bed. I enjoyed watching the videos on the Know Your Meme page.

I don't think teen boys are GenZ. They're Gen Alpha, aren't they? GenZ is in its twenties now. I wondered whether what's going on is they're graduating from colleges and universities or trade schools and discovering their hoodies and baggie shorts or whatever aren't acceptable attire in the workplace and also that WOMEN (rather than girls) would rather see their MEN take a little more care in their appearance?

Yes.

The college boys all went clean cut last year and over the summer.

Seniors and juniors went clean cut summer into fall.

We ars now down to younger teens who are still doing the poodle llama cut.

They should be nicely groomed by the end of summer.

Well, yes. That was a good discovery for them.

Black men generally dress very well. Glad to see younger black men evolve into that.

Wish white men would dress better. So many slovenly dads and teens out there in cargo shorts, hoodies and backwards ball caps.

My teen told me it is a meme, based on the quarter zip stereotype, and social commentary making fun of that guy.

Mom translation is the teen boys are finally cycling into responsible, driven and preppy from slacker video game youtube addicts, and trying to dress the part while still keeping a bit of teen boy irreverence.
