In addition to Andy’s, wise guys (when I only want a couple slices). You have to work a little hard, but great pizza can be found.

Hot take from a former Chicago resident: Chicago deep dish isn't great. It sits in your stomach like a lead weight. Pizza should be foldable.

+1

Deep dish is sooo greasy. I’ll go to Giordano’s once but that will rid my cravings for another 10 years.

Chicago DH thinks Giordanos is disgusting even for deep dish, which is inherently kind of awful, so that's a no.

We like 2 Amys, AP Pizza and Piccolo Piatti (the latter more because it is decent and convenient to us).

I love the food at Inferno, but the whole line business is such a pain (and once when we went they mismanaged the line, which was stressful). The end result is that I rarely feel like going. Just let me make a reservation, and I’d be much happier.

We’ve been enjoying VPN pizza for a while. Pupatellas and Ciao Osteria are near us. When we want a NY style pizza we go Tony’s at Fair Lakes.

I like this place too. I also like piccolo Piatti in bethesda. Vace is good for standard old school.
I wasn’t that impressed with Andy’s but I guess it’s fine. I still need to try AP pizza.
For your basic, big old pizza that you serve to teens and don’t consider fancy but that is really yummy, I agree with PPS that Potomac or Paisanos are the way to go. Paisanos also has really good cheesesteaks though so if we go there I always end up with the cheesesteak

It's all relative.

I think a lot of the people who obsess over how amazing Andy's is are comparing it to Papa John's and Dominoes.

For the price, I really expected more. ( I think Potomac or Paisanos is just as good for cheaper.

I don't know if I'd say best exactly, but Pizza Paradiso with its fun draft list and potato pesto pizza, is a good time.
