He was so good on SNl and just seems incredibly likeable. He also is really good at switching roles like Benedict Cumberbatch where you see him in one role and he’s kind of hot and then you see him in another and he’s supper skeevy. Not a lot of actors have that range. He also seems like he does drama and comedy and action all equally well, which again is not that common.

I also loved his joke about you’re sick of my face but you know who isn’t? Your mom. He’s totally right that his target audience is the middle aged mom group.

I loved Hit Man, sad to see others here not into it. Powell has a lot of range but I tend to disagree with people's actor/actress assessments here (I prefer older Pitt, never liked Reynolds). His face looks normal to me but I do get that feeling when you find someone really odd, I get that when I see the preview of that new Chalamet ping pong movie.

How do you define “movie star”? Is it someone whose movies I want to see? Because if that’s the definition, no, he isn’t a movie star.

So... he's just kind of fine, I guess?

OMG - your (B) is perfect. He is so forgettable.
And whoever said he has a movie star name....GLEN?

I find him so bland! I can never even picture him in my head. I thought Twisters was a pretty decent movie, but he didn't even stand out to me there.

I mean, Ryan Gosling has gotten a lot further than I would have expected and the two actors are fairly similar, right?

Gosling is funny and charming though.

He looks okay from the neck down, but his face is weird and he has beady little eyes.

+1 I can't get past not liking his looks. And I find him bland, not charming or charismatic at all.

These days, just like there are no supermodels, there are no younger generation movie stars. The days of Tom Cruise level stardom are over.

So I would say that Glen Powell is not showing promise, as in, a better future than he has now. He's already at the level of movie star, such as it is defined in the new era, which is a lower level of fame and fortune than what it used to be. He will not go past what he has now. That's not disappointing, it's just reality.

But I like him fine. I particularly like him in Hit Man, with Adria Arjona (who is delightful in Good Omens). PP who said that he can switch from offensive prick to lovable goof sums it up nicely.

I thought hit man was a horrible movie. But a lot of streaming movies try to go cheap with scripts and directors.

I kind of liked Hit Man and I thought Powell was really good in it.

The funny thing is that movie was directed by Richard Linklater!

I think he’s good, not great. He picks very diverse rolls, and imo, is better at comedy, ala Ryan Reynolds.
And I love how he is close to his family and has his parents in his movies.
He made the decision to put his career before his girlfriend (SS drama) and lost her.
He must really want it.

If you don’t want the tabloids following you, you keep the romance side to yourself and not share it until you know that’s the one you want. He’s 37 so may not want marriage and kids.
