I think it’s criminal that they give the impression BCPs is “hormones”. I mean it is kinda bc it’s a chemical that will mimic some aspect of hormones in your body, but honestly it’s not fair to HRT to compare HRT to BCP. HRT is chemically the same as the estradiol and progesterone circulating in your bloodstream. You can get estradiol through the skin without going through the stomach/liver (where the body might metabolize it into something different) and you can get progesterone in through the vagina without going through the stomach/liver although swallowing progesterone seems to have the benefit of your body metabolizing it into Allopregnanolone which is something the body does anyway with progesterone and seems to be positively impactful for brain health and recovery (and sleep) (just google all the stuff scientist are studying about Allopregnanolone as treatments for all types of brain and central nervous system diseases and injuries).
Just some things to consider
Can you say more? I'm very curious about this. Given my terrible experience with BCP during my 20s, 30s and 40s (issues I didn't know where caused by BCP or I would have obvious stopped taking them), I have resisted HRT for years now. I only just started the estradiol because it got to the point where my DH was complaining about lack of sex.
