Are the military academies automatically excluded from the list?

I was just coming to say that. Pretty common knowledge that the ringknockers have the tightest alumni network--never seen anything like it until I married a USNA grad. The way they hire each other is insane.

Ok, but seriously, how are HYP not on this list at least?! You constantly hear about their alum networks. I mean that’s the whole point of going to those schools.

It is well known that in the Ivies, Cornell has by far the best alumni network.

What?

Apparently. That and the Catholic schools.

+100. Nothing wrong with a college having happy alumni who want to help fellow grads. I graduated from one of the colleges listed as having “insufferable” alumni, had a great experience there and am happy to give back. The “insufferable” ones are the ones who think the worlds begins and and ends with their alma mater and bash other people’s schools.

You probabilistically shouldn’t. Many are small liberal arts colleges- so unless you’re hiring in consulting, I wouldn’t expect you to come across many.

Yeah, those no-name schools like Dartmouth, right?

Also, the fact that you haven’t hired anyone from those schools doesn’t mean they don’t have strong alumni networks. It might actually be indicative of strong alumni networks - they aren’t applying to your company because they are already being hired by alumni elsewhere.

Same. Have hired a lot of people from UMD, Penn State, Rutgers, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State, Delaware.. notice a trend? They're all state flagships.

this is so completely true, and I rarely post on this site - some schools just nurture and develop obnoxious alumni - Duke, Cornell, Williams, and Penn State are 4 very different types of schools, but I find their alumni insufferable and tend to throw out resumes from these schools

For me it’s Duke, Princeton, and Dartmouth grads who are just awful.
