If permanent, you should move the whole family now

He is active duty so it's just for two years. Our home base is DC and that is where my employer is. I do not have a remote option. So it's either single mom for two years or go with him. I am not willing to move every two years and it's chaotic and just not a lifestyle I like. He had been in DC 13 years when we met and told me it was unlikely he would ever pcs. However that wasn't the case.

You're going to separate your kids from their father for the sake of Janney????????

That is insanity. It's a fine school and a great community if you live in the neighborhood. It has it's good and bad parts, good and bad teachers. It is not any better than thousands and thousands of other elementary schools. Frankly it's not better than Hearst.

Signed, parent of 3 Janney grads who spent a decade being very involved at the school.

I’m extremely confused by this whole scenario. I think…just move with your family? There are lots of good elementary schools.

The only reason I might stay behind at Janney is if my kid was in 5th grade and was very attached to staying. (Even then it would be a tough call because 5th is the weakest year at Janney, so the non-academic considerations would have to weigh strongly. My DD loved Janney, her classmates, loved doing all the 5th grade “stuff”. )

Current Janney parent here. I wouldn't move from Hearst, Hearst is great!
