Don’t be dumb. There is MLSNext Homegrown (the good teams) and MLS Academy (think ECNL RL). And before you make a fool of yourself (again), go to the MLS website and look for yourself.

May sound dumb, but lots of parents sold MLS Academy as MLSNext Homegrown. Same patch, same social media...They basically say we are MLS Next and leave it at that. Misleading and works to draw more clubs in, but dilutes the Homegrown teams in the area as many think SYC, NVA, and Alex are the same as Revolution and St. James. Not everyone spends all day on these forums or researching youth soccer.

there is a good mix of bethesda and virginia valor(state champ) on 2013. new coach brought his bethesda futsal players and dumped most of loudoun players when he arrived

My son has never lost to them either but I don’t think that matters. I do question what you think is attractive football because I watched them possess the ball against us for a full 2-3 minutes which does not ever happen to us. They receive excellent technical instruction which I only get from one coach in my club and not our current coach.

They don’t have the best talent and their behavior is atrocious but they know how to develop. They don’t care about winning which was a complaint I heard from their parents. In that sense, they have it right. Results do not matter for development. If more coaches did focus on the fundamentals and technical abilities of players, you would make the club obsolete. But locally, people are more focused on tactics and winning which makes them one of the only viable options I would consider outside of my current club.

Unfortunately, the behavior is systemic and that prevents me from fully buying into it. I watched one of their parents approach the ref after a tackle. I was a little in shock at the behavior and I have personally intervened in those situations. Approaching a ref is a line I do not believe should be crossed and I was a little disappointed as I believe in what they fundamentally do.

On a completely separate team, we all saw two players fighting with each other. My son says one called the other a 8!+ch @$$ n!@@a (neither were black) and the other was cursing all over the pitch. I actually believe in the fundamental training environment but those are some tough pills to swallow from someone who actually believes in the coaching.

Technically, they know what they are doing and beating them is not a flex as most of the major teams, especially a SYC, will have better athletes.

Can someone explain why only certain local MLS Next clubs play Philly Union and DCU?
