Well I am a middle school teacher in DC and many kids are electing to wear masks on their own when they are not feeling 100 or when a classmate seems to be feeling not that well. Some actually ask me for masks, but I tell them we don't get them like we did when we just came back off of regular. However, they can go ask the nurse.


This is the first year my 8th grader has EVER wanted to wear a mask (for a very mild cold that wasn’t even a cold). Is it a trend?

Well I am a middle school teacher in DC and many kids are electing to wear masks on their own when they are not feeling 100 or when a classmate seems to be feeling not that well. Some actually ask me for masks, but I tell them we don't get them like we did when we just came back off of regular. However, they can go ask the nurse.

Adding thanks for caring about others’ health. Re excused/unexcused: in addition to mattering for the total number (at all ages), it also matters for older kids because teachers aren’t required to let them make up work (resulting in lower grades) if absence is unexcused.
