This. Canvas, Synergy, ParentVue, Connect Eds, Emails, Texts. It's all too much and now there's a new one? Which I had never heard of before today yet two other parents, who wanted to know my kid's teacher, already seemed to know about it. I'm info-ed out and just don't care anymore.
ParentSquare bought Remind. MCPS ant control that.
Canvas is a coursework management system, not a school management system.
Synergy is the system that contains ParentVue. You don't use both.
Connect Ed is a content/curriculum system, not a parent communication system.
Emails and Texts (and Phone Calls) aren't school apps. They are delivery methods apps use.
I was super irritated when they got remind and I will remain irritated by parentsquare. Why can’t they just use emails like normal people? Texts only for emergencies not for all the stupid spam they send.
I would love it if synergy and canvas were integrated. My oldest is now in college and they use canvas there — she frequently remarks that her college’s design for canvas is waaaaay better than the McPS design. (She has done a lot of computer science stuff so is pretty savvy with the McPS tech capabilities.). So I think it’s a comb of the limitations on the software that is available to school and McPS not being a sophisticated consumer in setting up the software modifications in the best way possible.

How lucky that your child won’t instinctively fall back to her current friends but will stretch herself to make new ones. Sounds like this has the makings of a great school year.
Yeah, who wants old friends? They were last year's style.

Anonymous wrote:How do you all learned about Parent Square? This is the first I heard of it and I work at MCPS. SMH. Was this buried in some massive email and somehow I missed it?
Also, the teachers are not listed for my kids. (ES). Am I not looking at the right place
