Attorneys have much much more incentive to suck up to big law than defend an individual, who in addition is apparently from a random family. At some point, connections and success intersect and he is not yet at this point.
Plaintiff-side employment attorneys are not sucking up to biglaw. Most of them really believe in their work. Maybe he found one of the very few that doesn’t and apparently was actually conspiring with Covington, but it sounds pretty outlandish.
