I said that about a friend to another mutual friend “how does he do it? I just can’t keep up and he does that every night!” And mutual friend turned to me with a mildly astonished look and said “well he’s an alcoholic” and it’s absolutely true.

Partners parents are in their 70-80s and drink a ton. I don’t know how they do it because I’m only in my early 40s and max out at 2 drinks! They are not exactly pleasant drunks either….

There was never any “strong” evidence. There was a series of studies funded by the alcohol industry that suggested it could be healthy for your heart or whatever… those studies have mostly been debunked. I know it’s fun and a lot of people are addicted but it’s getting harder and harder to pretend any of this is a good idea.

No. That’s a myth. There’s no health upside to drinking. It causes cancer.

Boomers have no business judging anyone for anything!

You're just jealous of our wealth. But our kids and grandkids aren't because we happily share it with them.

I think they drink more because as older folks with any number of achy limbs and chronic pain, it helps dull things.

My grandparents drank nightly, but my boomer parents have slowed down as they’ve aged. I think they are trying to lose weight, and don’t want the extra calories. They certainly used to party when they were younger though.
