And to clarify she=my wife

Last weekend I was super happy that my son's music class was at the same time as the Chuck-E-Cheese's birthday party my daughter was invited to. She has a lot more tolerance for Chuck-E-Cheese's, and I was happy to take my 3-year-old to music.

I would say around kindergarten (or earlier for venue parties). But even in elementary school, if it’s a park party, the whole family often comes.

I do think it’s weird how many people do not enjoy going to social events with their children and watching them engage with their peers. Some venue parties are hard for me, sure, but as a general rule? I love meeting my children’s friends and their families.

I’d like to know this too. I’m usually the only parent that attends and I’m the outlier. And someone will inevitably ask what everyone seems to be wondering, “where is your husband?” And the question bothers me on so many levels but I realize it’s an innocent conversation starter.

DH and I trade off.

We are in the thick of preschool whole-class parties. Generally, if it’s held at an event venue where the hosts are paying per person, it’s understood that you send one parent and one child. We usually rotate whose turn it is. If it’s a park party or held at someone’s house, siblings are almost always invited/expected and both parents attend (for the whole class). In this age group, siblings are usually infants/toddlers that can’t be left alone or friends with each other.

In my family it’s DH most of the time. He also does parent/teacher conferences. I’m typically the one to stay home with the other kids

We have an only also and I’d like both parents to go but assume only one is invited to the school friends’ parties.
