I posted earlier about my failed ECV and being ultimately thankful that I had a c-section because DS was wrapped up in his unusually long and knotted cord. It has crossed my mind many times over the years that we’re lucky the ECV did not cause him harm.

I had two ECVs, as both my babies were breech. Both were successful. The first was about 10 seconds and completely painless. They offered an epidural for the second but I was cocky from my easy past procedure. It was agonizing. But it worked, and I had an easy vaginal delivery.

OP here: she was a vaginal birth and was head down pretty much the entire pregnancy. So this one has been very different!

That's good news then. I read that many babies who were breech were that way due to mom's anatomy, which is why many women have multiple breech babies. Hopefully your baby will turn. As a 2nd baby they likely have more room and don't feel the need to turn yet.

There are plenty that are breech due to cord issues.

How do you push with a complete spinal?

Reading all of these painful ECV stories. My MD does a complete spinal so if something happens, you're ready for a crash c section. Literally felt nada.

Baby 1: head down, unmedicated vaginal
Baby 2: head down, unmedicated vaginal
Baby 3: breech, did ECV complete surgical spinal, didn't feel a thing. Got induced at 41.2 weeks, unmedicated vaginal
Baby 4: transverse, opted for scheduled c-section at 39 weeks.

Spinning babies worked for me, and I started seeing a chiropractor that is certified in webster technique. My 10lbs+ baby flipped and stayed head down.

Just be careful, my baby was breech because the cord was wrapped around her neck - I heard them counting as they unwrapped her - 3 times. I had an ECV and they could get her halfway and then sprung back. Happened several times before they finally gave up. I'm glad it didn't work, it could have been disastrous.

My third child was transverse and I opted out of the ECV because I was afraid of a scenario like this where the baby was breech for a reason. My first had the cord wrapped around his neck twice at birth and his heart rate had kept dropping during contractions - it was a terrible delivery that should have been a c section.

So, I scheduled the c section for my third and to my surprise, at my 39 week appointment the baby had turned. We scheduled an induction for a couple of days later hoping the baby would not turn again. I did stand on my head a bit and do the recommended exercises but didn’t go to any practitioner.

Good luck! My breech baby is now a teen, and stubborn (which can be both a good and bad thing). I joke that the refusal to go head down was our first indication of what was to come.
