Stonetown is something else- the night market! the intricate doors! the rooftop restaurants! (I also loved the cheesy Freddie Mercury stuff.)

I love threads like this. Oslo is interesting to see. I’ve always heard people were unwelcoming to foreigners and did not engage with them.

DP. We also loved Oslo - the geography, the sights, and the people.

I’ve never really considered Oslo but putting it in my radar!

Sorry, was offline for the past 24 hours. These are great!

I actually spun off this thread in response to the thread on “creepy” places people were warning each other away from. Bad energy, mojo, etc.

So I guess by good energy, I don’t mean any one thing. Maybe you could feel a higher vibration. Or you were easily swept up in positivity when you visited. Or felt at peace. Or felt at home. Or felt welcome and joyful and light. Or like you found a little part of yourself there. Or something else! It’s a thread open to interpretation and I’ve enjoyed all the answers.

I’ll add a few more of my own:

Homer, Alaska (a quiet, grounding energy)

Any of the great walks in New Zealand but especially the north island. (Powerful energy.)

Volcanoes National Park (Goddess energy)

NYC, Paris, Copenhagen, South Africa (long time ago), Kauai if you like surfing and hiking.

Western China. Specifically Yunnan and Sichuan. Not at all like coastal China.

Tofino, out on the far coast of Vancouver Island in Canada.

It's small. There are lodges and some rental places, but it has a very remote vibe. The crashing waves are omnipresent, day and night. During storm season, it is even more thunderous. You can lose yourself in the primalness of it.

Tidal pools, orca, giant trees. Wildness.

There's good energy that means it's a place that has natural good vibes and then literally energy where you need people. Above for me is latter. Former includes Jackson Hole, Banff (though years ago) and Normandy (also years ago). Innsbruck in the 1990s. I can recall in 1990 being in Notre Dame and feeling literally different inside - the holiness. I'm not religious in that I'm not a Church goer or brought up in a religious setting but it was a tangible palpable feeling of energy that came from what I think were people praying and their faith. Was really strong for me and pretty cool to feel. Never felt it returning in the 2000s again.

Energy is real - but you should specify what kind of energy you seek OP.

Banff for me a few years ago felt like a whole lot of Chinese tourists and overpriced food. once you got more than a mile out on a hiking trail, things improved.

I'll throw another vote to Lisbon. We went to Porto a year later, but it wasn't as good.

Well for a happy energy + interesting culture -style vibe, I'd say:
Bamberg, Germany (and other smaller Bavarian cities)
Melbourne
Vienna (in the summer)

For more high-octane energy, I agree with NYC & Tokyo - and would add Berlin.
