And the parents who send their 5th graders or middle schoolers with super short shorts, cropped tops or ripped pants to a school environment while violating every dress code on repeat.. Do you think these parents care about the quality of their children school environment or their kids learning!? This is the environment at CHML in upper elementary and middle school.

She’s only been there 1 year and she has done absolutely nothing. Her idea of punishing violent children is letting them ditch classes they don’t like and have them walk around with her. Ineffective. (Current teacher…I’m only staying one more year for the commute before we move but I so wish I could get out immediately. Everything negative about the school and admin that’s been commented on this post is 100% accurate)

It doesn’t mean the school does a poor job of educating the students beyond K thought. I get it’s frustrating it you’re really into Montessori.

Are you listening to everyone else? The school does NOT do a good job of educating the students in grades 1-5. Students are barely learning anything at all because the classes are so chaotic and there’s no real direct instruction whatsoever. Behaviors are out of control. Classrooms are unsafe.

Or you're potentially a disgruntled former employee.

Try a former parent who actually knows. I volunteered in that building all of the time. Pulled my kids out after a year. One in lower, one in upper. Saw it all. Dealt with admin as an active PTSO member. You sound like one of PA’s lackeys.

That makes sense. That definitely seems "Montesorri Light" to put it nicely.

These long term Montessori guides (teachers) are not going to leave a stable and scarce DCPS Montessori job. However, two years ago there was a new AP who left after one year. Then this past school year there was another new AP and apparently based on the above post, she left. Two different APs in two years!

So can only teachers who are already Montessori certified teach there?

Nope. They should have to be. But the art teacher isn’t even certified in art. It’s a mess of a school. Again, I’d stay far away until PA is gone for good.
