There is a ton of 8th graders who are taking Algebra 2 but were rejected or waitlisted. Don't think they need to work on their math if some admits were in Algebra 1.

Do you guys think it's worthwhile to try for a sophomore admission next year or is it a waste of time?

DC wants to attend TJ but we are telling him that the math is going to be tougher and not easier but do not want to discourage him.

I told my DC that if he feels strongly about trying a year from now, he can do so. In the meantime, he must apply himself at high school and see if he likes it just as much. He really really wanted to get into TJ because he's a science and computer obsessed person, but sometimes things don't work out. So we'll see.

Last Friday, May 16, 2025, we extended the first wave of offers to students who were part of the wait pool for the TJHSST Class of 2029. Unfortunately, we were not able to make offers to everyone in the Wait Pool, including not being able to extend an offer to you. The first wave of Wait Pool offers has historically been the largest but additional offers do continue throughout the summer. You should expect to hear from us again in approximately two weeks.

To me that reads, politely, that "we already took everyone we wanted to take, and any additional offers are going to be negligible."

Froshmore admissions are a thing and frankly if you get in as a froshmore, you are likely to be better qualified than the average TJ student

I have heard of exactly 0 people appealing the TJ decision. I am sure that they are required ot have an appeals process, I don't think anyone uses it. I think we would have heard of people using it successfully and people on this board would be discussing exactly how to file a successful appeal if such a thing existed.
