Look at the Harvard lawsuit admission's data. Grades do count as you wanted to be at a minimum in slot number 2 for academics.

The Harvard lawsuit data tells you a lot about what is expected of an unhooked applicant.

2 B’s, both in Spanish. 35 ACT, 12 APs, massive EC involvement, and very well liked in her school. While she had great stats, I personally believe it was her character/intangible qualities that got her into many great colleges.

Who cares? There’s a world of opportunity outside the Ivies. Open your mind and your kid’s mind to other options. Yes, have your kid do their best but just know that there’s not a whole lot most people can do to move the needle on Ivy admissions. If there’s an Ivy acceptance, great and congrats. The luster or glow from that acceptance (or any other elite school school acceptance) will wear off after a few weeks and your kid will be doing and dealing with the same things as most kids going to a T100 to T-150. Moving into a dorm, dealing with a roommate, registering for classes, and figuring out college in general.

My kid is at an Ivy with a 3.8 uw senior high school GPA. Private HS. Unique ECs tied to major.

Being surrounded by a group of packaged students is why the Ivy experience has lost its luster.

At time of application 3 final semester grades of B, then a 4th one on the mid-term report. These were in the same subject area.

Overal WGPA 4.8+

If you look at data-3.9 is the uw average. Many schools report weighted averages in their data. Ivies report uw. So the majority have 4.0 uw.

My kid got in with 4 B also. School doesn’t do +/-
Large urban public school
Arts focused EC

2024 RD acceptances at all 3 of H/Y/S. No Bs, but two or three A- from a private school known for their rigor. Unhooked in every way.

My child got in with 6 B's

No grades below A, mostly A+

11 APs

2 years of math post BC calc

Daughter got into an Ivy unhooked this year from a magnet public school with 5 B's. Took highest curriculum available in all subjects, all 5's in AP classes and a 36. The Bs were in either in random non-AP classes or really hard classes (beyond AP ones).
