Are you asking about PVS? Yes. Lots of towels, parka and snacks. And as someone else said, it is a pretty sterile champs meet and not a lot of fun.

No, NCSA Spring Champs
March 17-21 ORLANDO

The design of the pool (open air that was a bit modified with windows) means the pool is still on the cooler side in the morning. Same suggestions as pp…pack a few towels, a parka may be something to you want to bring, although my swimmer preferred hoodies.

There’s a Whole Foods and a Publix not too far from that area. Some kids do walk to WF but it’s across the highway. Otherwise you can DoorDash groceries. Depending on if your swimmer is doing parent or team travel, the restaurants in that area tend to cater towards tourists, especially since it’s spring break. They are pretty crowded at lunch too so order ahead. Might want to get an Airbnb or hotel with a kitchenette.

Otherwise it’s your typical champs style meet- prelims in the morning, finals at night and distance events in between. Warmup lanes aren’t assigned so they can get crowded.

My swimmer has met a lot of kids over the years from clubs across the country and has kept in touch. Some college coaches that aren’t at NCAAs are on deck and even though they can’t talk to freshman and sophomores, they’re taking notes. It’s a fun meet!

I am really struggling with this bc there are so many travel meets for age groupers once they hit 13/14 and have sectionals, futures cuts etc. it is a lot!!!

If you have a 13/14 futures cuts, your always prioritize futures.

Futures is only in the summer….

Not to mention, there are no 13/14 Futures cuts.

Pretty sure all the responses about the 13/14 futures cuts were tongue and cheek since they do not exist.

fun meet but the music is too loud actually, at least according to some swimmers, get swimmers some noise cancellation headphones

and finals walk out song is the same for everyone, you'll be sick of it, bum bum, bum bum bum bum, bum bum, bum bum bum bum, lol

but still fun meet for the kids

Your best hope is sending MM screenshots from the NCSA meet to a bunch of college coaches. That way, if you’re lucky, they’ll remember the name when they come to IMX next year. It’s always good to lay that groundwork before those big meets, e.g., IMX, where lots of scouting eyes might be on your swimmer.

Don’t do that. Pp is being facetious.

Have DD register her swim cloud account. Use the ‘how do I fit’ feature to see how her best times fit for each school. Is she top 16 in those conferences? Awesome! Coaches will notice. Is she a tad slower? Not a deal breaker because coaches can see potential. Fill out recruiting forms for schools that a good fit now if she’s a sophomore or junior.

NCSA posts times on mm almost immediately but what you can you is email the entire coaching staff (bc assistant coaches heavily handle recruiting) of her preferred schools after NCSAs and essentially say hey…I’d really love to learn more about your swim program, here are my most recent times and here are my academic stats & test scores. Hope to talk to you in *June (if she’s a sophomore).

Remember to start with a wide net- just as you do when applying for college, identify a few reaches, targets and safeties.

if your kid is fast enough to swim at A finals every night at PVS 14&U champs then yes go to NCSA age group champs if you can

if not swimming A finals at PVS, you could look at last year's NCSA age group results and see how your kid's best times would have placed in NCSA prelims last year & then decide - like is it worth it if your kid probably wouldn't make any finals at NCSA, you have to decide that

just one opinion, I am sure there will be others who have different ideas
