Democracy is a means to achieving freedom.

I’m no libertarian. At all. I think it’s a closed mindset.

But we need to get back to core principles of individual freedom, RULE OF LAW, government as protecting our freedoms (not limiting), and of course some social limitations against freedoms that infringe on others.

We need to apply these principles to all questions; to all people left and right. No favoritism for our “sides.”

Going against principles, as a win for a side, has eroded all of it. Stop defending your side. Defend freedom.

Completely agree, although USA has been associated with a flawed democracy since 2017, coinciding with the first Trump administration. It looks like things will get worse in 2025

Now, democracy is actually being restored in the US.
Canada and Europe keep moving away from democracy.

This was a little misleading. The US is at risk of being downgraded to the same status as Canada.

The US Constitutional Framers were well aware that demagogues like Trump would appear from time to time and structured the Constitution to contain them.

Trump can issue all the EOs he wants, but any one of them can be shot down by a federal judge. Don't fall for the political theatrics. Trump loves to create chaos and drama. Much of Trump's nonsense will be rolled back by the independent judiciary. It will just take time for the judicial process to catch up.

There is zero chance that Trump will be able to take over as an autocrat.
