That's a tough one. I'm not anti-rhinoplasty but see so many truly distinctive and beautiful women destroying their identity to look like the the current trend du jour. I'd push to hold off if her nose is truly attractive - just out of current style with teens. Hard to sell the "someday you'll appreciate it" line but the right thing to do is not often the easy thing.

Yes, she wants a slope, small nose. I honestly completely get someone with a large nose doing something about it if they feel the need, but in this case her nose is 100% fine and even nice! And it's not too big for her face. I really think a lot of it is looking at instagram and seeing girls who look a certain way and wanting to look like them, but she is just as pretty.

The slightest bump and just not small. It looks like Penelope Cruz’s nose.

Noses can be too small or too big. If you have a lousy surgeon and he makes it too small for her face there’s not much you can do.

The plus side of her doing it now is that you could be involved in the consult process/choosing a skilled surgeon who can make minor and delicate changes.

Honestly it would be so sad for her to do it on her own and end up with a cartoonish nose or something that looks trendy rather than one that fits her face.

I wish I had mine done as a teen like some of my friends. However I have a true hook/crooked/bulbous nose-- By the time I had the resources as a late 30 almost 40 year-old...the risk/payoff didn't seem worth it. If she doesn't have a true schnoz...I would tell her you support her decision but.she will need to pay for it

I had a big nose with a bump that I hated. After complaining about a year, my mom pivoted from “your nose is fine and no way will you be getting a nose job,” to “this obviously bothers you, so we’ll go talk to some doctors and see what they say.” She insisted that if I was going to have surgery, I was going to a top surgeon.

I ended up getting a nose job between junior and senior year in high school and went from feeling like an ugly duckling to beautiful swan. The surgery improved my self-esteem so much that I think I would have had a different life had I been stuck with my old nose, feeling self-conscious and unattractive.

If you can afford it, and this is something that has bothered your DD for some time, I’d consider letting her have the surgery. BTW, your nose stops growing around 16 or a couple of years after starting your period. So, she’s not too young.

I wish I had gotten a nose job when I younger, before I started my career. I am almost 50 and I still hate my nose with a passion.

Same. And I can say mine is big and there was definitely some teasing in middle school, though only from one boy. But it made me feel terrible. One day in college, a girl told me I had the perfect nose and looked like a Roman goddess. That reframed my thinking. I’m so glad I kept my big nose. It’s unique and adds character

This. Even if she still wants one in a few yrs, what she thinks the “perfect” nose should like at 17, might be entirely different than what she would want at 24. This is permanent. You get one good go at it. She will have better results if she wants a few more yrs and it becomes a more cognitive and thoughtful decisions vs teen with body image issues that is going to pick some fake looking ski slope nose

This. Have one final conversation about it OP. The answer is no, as long as she is a minor and funded by you, which most likely will be until she is at least 22-23. If she wants to start saving for it then, that's on her.
