No idea. I haven’t looked at rankings of the schools my kid has applied to because I couldn’t care less. DC is looking for a particular major, extracurriculars, campus feel, proximity from home, etc., none of which have anything to do with rankings. (And, before you assume, DC has 3.98UW, 4.89W and 1500+ SAT.) Why is it so hard for some DCUM posters to accept that some people are not obsessed with rankings?

It's only been the "normal thing to do" for average to below average academically strong people to go to college in the last 20 years or so. Before that, people went into trades, opened business, or worked for companies.

I have the same question as OP but mine is more in the context of does it make more financial sense for people in a 101-1500 school to just start working any job after high school or go to trade school and get technical training to start moving up immediately. Start saving sooner. Not have to pay insane tuition.

Why do the 4 year education if it won't do anything for them? And possibly make their lives more difficult?

Kid at ASU Barrett Honors College.
Was admitted to 2 other state schools t70 (Penn State, Indiana) and Colorado and 1 Private (Baylor). He picked the Honors College Program at ASU after touring the campus, Honors Colelge dorm, talking to Professors. Etc. it is like a small college within a huge college. He is loving his first semester.

Was thinking something similar. Who cares. My kid has a hard time in school - ADHD, Depression - but a good kid, doing betting recently. Will be thrilled for him to go to college for the experience. I went to name unspecified school and now doing very well. My first job out of college I worked right next to someone who graduated from Harvard - no lie. I’m doing fine as a GS-15. I think that person is now at a think tank somewhere. All is well for a no name graduate.

Kid wanted to major in business & graduate in 3 years. Picked school that gave lots of AP credit for kid’s scores, direct admit to business, good OOS scholarships, bigtime sports, & fun atmosphere.
