You can take the phone at night, but I think you should be aware of the fact that she is very likely going to start deleting the texts and phone history now that she knows you were checking her phone. You can ask your Father to look up the phone logs, but I truly feel as a matter of safety I would just take her phone as a natural consequence of chatting with people she does not know and sharing person details with strangers.

You will know what a period of time is that would be impactful for her. For some kids that would be a week. For some kids that would be a month. You want to make an impression here.

I don't understand people who say OP needs to set "boundaries" with her father for simply paying for his granddaughter's phone. You people may put anyone outside your nuclear family at arm's length but others value grandparents and aunts and uncles.

OP, you should immediately take the phone from her and give her a bark phone until she can show you she is capable of making good decisions.
