The Gold Bond retinol lotion is amazing and cheaper than similar lotions also with retinol.

In the winter, I use Kiehls Creme de Corps. Rest of year I use a less expensive option like Eucerin.

Weleda Skin Food is incredible. A very thick cream is sold in a jar and a thinner lotion in bottles. Unscented or scented by actual botanicals.

I sort of agree with 9:26. I'm in my 50s and in my late teen years I started lotioning after every shower. I also exfoliate with a scrubber every shower. (also I think if you use regularly you start to see it work more effectively - your skin adjusts and you see fewer dead skin cells etc).
For a LONG time I used Clinique Body Butter, which I love. It absorbs well, feels smooth, just a great feel.
Then, during late stages covidtime, when supply chains were harder, I switched to Cetaphil - the kind in the tub - which costs about half of Clinique and works just as well. I wouldn't turn down body butter as a gift or splurge, but I think it's hard to justify the price.
I started traveling a lot for work and couldn't find a travel size, so I once bought Dove moisturizer and it was awful. Too thick, and wouldn't absorb. Also hated the smell.

I have used body lotion my whole life after every shower. So I go through a lot. I have found no difference between the more expensive lotions and something like Vaseline Intensive Care Advanced Repair. I've recently been trying the Walmart Equate version of VIC and so far so good.
