We are scrambling to find an alternative. Anyone have luck in hiring someone to pick up thier kid from school, drive them home and watch them for an hour or two? How much did you pay if so? How did you get over nervousness about essentially a stranger driving your kids? We just ended our nanny share contract, and know most nannies do not want part time pay.
Check at the local High School for a Jr./Sr. girl to do that. Ask the guidance counselor to put up a notice for hire.

I'm searching unsuccessfully for a private aftercare program that will pick up my PK4 child from Marie Reed Elementary.
Casa Lala?

I paid $25 an hour, guaranteed 10-12 hours a week but usually averaged 13-15. I think this is on the lower end but we're in upper MoCo and she lived relatively close by. She was 26, working towards her degree in something online. We've found other nannies on sittercity or care.com with success so don't write them off totally.
We found a recent college grad to drive my high school kid home from school a few years ago. I *think* we paid $20-25/hr but it was a while ago. It involved no childcare since the kid was 14 and only needed a ride. I never worried about the stranger aspect.
