I’ve never been into watching movies, though to be fair I wasn’t exposed to that many as a kid. Read a lot when I was child. Graduated from an Ivy.

Yup me too. I prefer books because I can speed read the boring parts. Movies you’re stuck with the pacing.

But my guess is that your autistic kid just wants to focus on those movies or shows which he/she has a personal interest in and doesn’t enjoy watching random things suggested by others

Mine was like this. She is sensitive / easily overwhelmed by noise, and found a lot of "funny peril" TV situations stressful. She's largely grown out of it now at 10, but we don't watch scary stuff.

My two brilliant and well adjusted DCs also have not been fans of going to the movies. They don’t like being in the dark and how loud the sound system is. We have been a family of Netflix watchers.

OP is overreacting. If not like movie watching is a sign of something being wrong w a child, then op is in for a world of hurt when puberty hits. Op, relax and just let your child be.
