You are not wrong. But at the same time, I am proud that she is taking a stand. She is calling for a ceasefire. She was taken to the protest by her roommate who is Jewish (but not Israeli). There could be long term consequences for her and we have talked about it.

I’m an atheist, and I can see the religious angle is making it impossible to discuss the misdeeds of Israel and Hamas. There are complex, multi-faceted problems at play over there, and they can’t be solved with rockets and missiles. Going to 100 over it because of religious beliefs is going to lead to more deaths of Palestinians and Israelis.

I’m still a liberal, a Democrat, a white male, a strong believer in unions, women’s rights, and that people of color have got the short (often violent) end of the stick in this country since the beginning.

I’m also a strong supporter of Israel and its right to end Hamas, including the assault on Gaza. Hamas is willing to sacrifice every Gazan civilian if it would mean the end of Israel and Jewish people. And I feel horribly for the children of Gaza - I want nothing more for them to be taken out of that strip of land and protected.

I love how Rep. Richie Torres of the Bronx has been addressing his support for Israel. He’s been steadfast, clear eyed, and so forceful. It’s so important for Gentiles - especially a man of color representing the Bronx! - to show that kind of support.

If Hamas got a hold of any one of us - white, black, Asian, Hispanic, gay, straight, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, man, or woman - they would torture and murder us for being an American. Especially true if they suspect you of being LGBTQ. These terrorists are pure sadists out of your worst nightmares. Once they are done with Israel, they will next aim at Americans and Europeans.

True activists are like my mom... they follow their deep beliefs, not trends, and try to do good in the world. Usually quietly. If they do protest that put on their best clothes to meet and advocate, get permits for protests and are generally polite and dogged. They aslo protest the institution or policy or politicians, not focus their ire on groups of people by race, nationality etc.

When I see an "activist" applying for a job, the first thing I think of is misogynist. The hate for women is real. I think anti-semite, which totally is not working in my profession. I think terrible judgement. People rooting for Hamas while others are burying their dead. I think drama over everything and very little if it makes sense.

As a Jew, I am absolutely worried about being doxxed if I attended a rally in support of Israel. I’m frankly gobsmacked at the level of antisemitism that has been displayed right here in DC and in NYC these last couple weeks, and I think every Jew in America now has very good reason to fear for their safety.

Yeah well there's always going to be a handful of dumb fringe extremists out there.

But here's the thing - we can both remain progressive liberal, remain activists, but ALSO be under no obligation to defer to or respect the jerks who want to demonize someone just for what family, circumstance or skin color they were born into. Nor do we need to listen to the nihilists and anarchists who want to see everything burn before we can make progress. Seems to me the far right has the same problems in many of those regards.
