DD had yo carry epipens and Benadryl with her at school. These bags-stylish or not - are so much more convenient for her.

I'm fascinating by the number of people saying "i wear my belt bag like a crossbody!" as though that makes it different and less passe? I think everyone wears it as a crossbody, no? Like, every second mom at the park. I don't think anyone is wearing it as a belt bag. That's precisely why this thing has reached peak ridiculousness.

I wear my belt bag as a crossbody and I love it. Convenient and it looks really stylish that way. I don't know if any watched "And Just Like That" but the Nicole Ari Parker character wore a fanny pack and it was EVERYTHING!

i am with the person above. great for phone cards and keys. i have my car key in mine and it never comes out. that bag is on me all the time. pretty handy!!!

As long as we are in our athleisurewear all the time, belt bags will stick around.

Had to check the date on this thread. I thought someone must have bumped a thread from 2018, when this trend of wearing them crossbody really took off. That’s when I bought my Givenchy one.

Fashion things tend to stick around for seasons. Think how many years skinny jeans hung in there. I don't see anyone on this thread saying it's a RECENT trend, only that it will dies soon. You have insufferable smugness.

It’s far more convenient than carrying a shoulder bag or satchel. It’s not going to die any time soon because of that. Skinny jeans had nothing to do with efficiency or convenience. That was just pure fashion, designed to part people from their money. Apples and oranges.

We live in SW Florida, which as i've said on here before, is like a place that exists outside of normal fashion trends. Belt bags aren't a thing here. At the risk of being pointed out and mocked to your DH, the belt bag thing is just a thing and nothing to get so invested in - but I’m glad it makes you feel better about yourself.

I hated the look but I’ve been using a belt bag to hold my phone while walking the dogs for years. I decided to wear it as a crossbody sling ala the trend and I loved it. The diagonal line it creates is much more flattering that wearing it around the waist; it doesn’t flop when it is across the chest the way it does when it is around the waist; it is far more accessible when worn across the chest. I was sold. so I bought a quilted version from amazon for $15.

And now I’m so sad that here on DCUM I am learning that Floridians are laughing at me. But your mind-reading ability is truly amazing.

Dude, no one is laughing at you for wearing a fanny pack as a purse while walking your dog. It's the ubiquitous bags that people are wearing out all the time as fashun - while claiming them to be timeless! - that's kind of funny. I also live in SW Florida but some people wear the crossbody fanny packs here in my city. They just look sort of uncomfortable to me. But I don't care if anyone else uses them. I DO think that a few years from now, they will seem hopelessly dated - at least the $$ styles that groups of people all wear.

I saw some rich teenagers down the Jersey shore all wearing the same Lululemon sling bag a couple of weeks ago. In the town where we were staying, there are a LOT of $$$ brand-obsessed people - and I thought it was funny that this bag is what the kids get. Their moms were carrying LV camera bags and Prada straw bags and stuff. (I think - I don't know tons about bags. Enough to notice when I see the same ones over and over, I guess.)

Whatever the trends, you should wear whatever works for walking the dog. You are existing outside of a trend, when you are walking the dog.
