We have this in our downstairs shower and, similar to a picture a PP posted, we have a very high curtain rod and and an extra long shower curtain. Love it and have changed out the design a couple of times.

I vastly prefer a curtain if it's done well.

Glass is so much cleaning and upkeep and no privacy.

We just had our son's bath remodeled from a tub to walk-in shower. What no one has said is that a shower curtain is more ADA friendly. Those glass half walls are in the way of you truly need a shower for mobility issues.

As for aesthetics, the glass needs constant upkeep. I have a huge swath of it in my master, and it's a lot of work. A curtain done well (hung high) adds style. Do an internet or Pinterest search. The glass wall will become dated, but curtains are easy to change and update.

OP, also look into a polyprylene shield that doesn't move- it looks like glass and is more effective than a shower curtain. Good luck!

We have a nice cloth curtain in our walk in shower for the reasons you stated (so much easier to clean). We like it, it's pretty, and softens up an otherwise hard (tile, granite countertop, mirror) room

Design the shower so you don't need either glass or curtain

I've never understood glass doors. I had them in a former house and took them out, replaced with shower curtain. I can't stand cleaning the glass doors. Shower curtain you just throw into the wash.
In my new house, we used a shower curtain in walk-in shower. The shower is large, so you don't even need a shower curtain, but we have one to catch shampoo splatters, etc. The floor never gets wet. There's a curtain and a liner, both made of fabric, and both easy to wash.
Hotels always have shower curtains. What's the big deal? Glass doors are so heavy and expensive for showers. And all that squeegee-ing!! Not for me!!

Why do people prefer doors and to be seen?

I think people who said it looks cheap just have a cheap taste. You can definitely have a high end bathroom with a curtain and it will look very expensive.

I kept a curtain in two bathrooms that was completely gutted and redone. The first one was in my teen bathroom I know they are not going to clean the glass regularly and I had no intention to scrub it on weekends. I just make them take the curtain down once every two week, laundry and they put it back. So much better than dirty glass.
